Apropos of the recent controversies in the Anglican Communion, a friend and fellow parishioner said recently that he's not an Anglican, he's an Episcopalian. I feel the same way.

I'm proud to be part of an Episcopal Church that welcomes a diversity of views among the people of God. None of us knows or understands everything. Only by talking, working, and praying together can we continue to struggle toward a better understanding of God, his works, and his will.
I treasure the Episcopal Church's communion with other Anglican churches. But Episcopalians should not permit their church, with its open-minded, truth-seeking character, to be hijacked by the invincible certainty of True Believers, of any persuasion, in this country or elsewhere.
